Process

  • Perform incoming testing including mechanical and electrical operations, insulation resistance, contact resistance, primary and/or secondary injection.

  • Verify wiring to be of standard configuration.

  • Disassembly of the circuit breaker to sub-assembly component level.

  • Dismantle the operating mechanism.

  • Dismantle the current path assemblies

  • Clean and inspect all parts for deterioration, removal of old lubrication and/or other deficiencies, defects or damage.

  • Clean and inspect arc chutes (repairs can sometimes be made to non-asbestos arc chutes).  Damaged asbestos chutes require replacement and an environmental assessment for disposal is required.

  • Document all discrepancies on the attached inspection report.

  • Document all parts needed on the attached inventory list.

  • Replace needle bearings, thrust washers, mechanical bushings and other small hardware as required (with customer approval).

  • Paint all previously painted surfaces.

  • Customer approval is required prior to replacement of rejected parts.  Forward inventory list to director of quality.

  • Replace components as required as directed by director of quality.

  • Lubricate all moving components as required to factory specification.

  • Reassemble sub-assemblies utilizing peer inspections.

  • Dress the contacts and adjust for proper alignment, over-travel and pressure.

  • Verify proper mechanical operation and adjustments.

  • Verify proper electrical operation and adjustments.

  • Perform final testing including mechanical and electrical operations, insulation resistance, contact resistance, timing, primary and/or secondary injection.

  • Prepare maintenance and test report.
